006 CD / Wolfgang Amadé Mozart. Tre Sonate
Description
"A small revelation: pianist Gerrit Zitterbart, who already reaped bagfuls of laurels as a member of the Abegg Trio, plumbs Mozart's sonatas with intense verve without lapsing into galloping speculation; he also plays with remarkable resoluteness and delicate sensitivity. That the sound engineering preserved the Steinway grand piano unaltered makes this CD finally an audiophile treat for me." (HifiVision )

The clear formal contours and the nuanced gesturing in Gerrit Zitterbart’s thematic shaping result in a fresh and contrast-rich Mozart interpretation. Even if perhaps a final personal “stamp” is missing in the performance, the pianist convinces through refined taste and intelligence, as well as through humor and elegance in his phrasing. The very three-dimensional sound image contributes significantly to the overall impression.
