… what matters is the substance. And here it is right. Schubert’s piano sonata fragment D 566, for example, in which the composer once again seems to have no clear conception of the work’s destination, and in which the music’s very standstill nonetheless gives rise to such enchanting moments. Or Schumann’s Gesänge der Frühe, written shortly before his suicide attempt and his committal to a psychiatric institution. Long discredited as evidence of a waning of mental powers, they may just as well be understood as a gaze into a time to come. Pianist Andreas Lucewicz reveals himself as a highly individual and sensitive artist.

… In the spring, Andreas Lucewicz was celebrated at the Lübeck Conservatory alongside Sviatoslav Richter. This is a pianist to remember: with his sensitive approach, he brings lesser-known works by Schubert, Schumann, Janáček, and Brahms out of obscurity.
