"... Adorno’s speech reads like a commentary on recording the string quartets op. 130 including the later final movement and the Great Fugue op. 133 with the phenomenal Auryn Quartett on TACET 38: "It’s as if the subject retreated from his music, and, leaving the apparition to its own devices, then really made the apparition speak..." – One really could not present this late work in a more up-to-date way and yet more entranced, removed from all subjective whispered prompts." 1. In Tune

TACET may be a label new to many readers. It is a small, independent German company dedicated to the highest standards of quality in both sound and performance. The Auryn Quartet is also not exactly a household word, though in the world of chamber music perhaps they deserve to be, for the playing on these two CDs (TACET 31 & TACET 38) is superlative in every way ... Because it is a small label, just getting international distribution, it may be difficult to find these CDs at first. Neither TACET nor the Auryn Quartet are well known outside Germany. But do try to hear these discs. They represent an extraordinary achievement at every level.
