(...) This complete recording is an enrichment from a technical and musical point of view (...)

The recording is released as CD, SACD and LP and targets audiophile listeners. In addition to a 180-gram sticker and "Tube only" lettering, the cover of the LP contains a lot of information about the microphones and other equipment. This often leads one to fear the worst for the music - but not here. The Polish Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra continues its Beethoven cycle with Wojciech Rajski and plays the "Pastorale" on conventional instruments in modern playing technique. Nevertheless, there is no fluffy string carpet from which the winds could produce themselves alone. The dialogic is clearly in the foreground, and in the balance between strings and winds Rajski leans toward historically informed music-making practice. He achieves with the ensemble he founded almost 30 years ago a performance that is rich in contrast in dynamics, transparent in sound, and rather rapid in tempi, yet very energetic at the same time. At least on vinyl, there is no equivalent alternative to this "Pastorale" - not on the used market or among reissues. The manufacturing quality of my LP was good, but the center hole was a bit too large. The sound quality is fabulous.
