  1. Audio

Tonmeister Andreas Spreer not only produces superb-sounding new recordings or, with incredible effort, revives the piano playing of long-deceased masters (AUDIO 9/18); he also remains open to all recording formats. For lovers of the LP, he has now had three vintages of his label TACET’s “Perlenlese” transferred to vinyl—complete with extensive technical documentation and excellently written accompanying texts. Musically, we are offered a fine cross-section of the Stuttgart company’s repertoire, grown over decades. Predominantly chamber music, but also song, choral works, symphonic repertoire (the Beethoven cycle with the Polish Chamber Orchestra counts among the best-sounding of all), and solo piano set the needle dancing, awaken musical curiosity, and make ears rejoice. Produced with either very old or very new—yet in any case the very finest—equipment, the recordings sound dynamic, spacious, and wonderfully natural. Andreas Spreer puts it almost poetically: “Love is not loud.”
