Description

"Mozart’s Flute Quartets appear on this DVD with excellent sound, and with the instrumentalists situated around the listener, which has become the trademark of the TACET label. The result is a chamber music tonal picture in which all the instruments are of equal importance and the flute does not force itself to the fore. Musically the recording is also remarkable; […]" (crescendo)
"TACET's creative use of this multichannel medium takes Mozart's lovely Baroque background music out of the soporific and into the energetic. And the playing is first rate." (Audiophile Audition)

  1. Enjoy the music

(...) Tacet (...) releases audiophile quality music on both high-resolution DVD-Audio and CD digital formats. Their new release, features Mozart′s Flute Quartets that are both musically beautiful and challenging to play. This recording was made at a remote monastery in the Austrian mountains.
    To quote Tacet
"The musicians do not only play structurally clear music but also love emotional interpretations - as one recalls them from the great musicians of the past: for many listeners today that is a completely new and impressive experience. It is refreshingly stimulating to listen to a Tacet production. The Tacet sound is something quite special: it is audiophile and does not kill the music. That is why many musicians see Tacet as "their" label. Tacet is kind both to the music and the musicians! And is therefore of course listener-friendly." Catalog number D107 is the Mozart Flutequartets/Gaede Trio while T107 is the CD equivalent."

  2. Audiophile Audition

The German classical label is doing DVD-A right. Their discs can be played without video display, and they use anywhere from four to six channels as the music may call for. Since in this case there are four performers, one is placed spatially at each of the four speakers - the center and LFE are not used. Going clockwise from the left front we have flute, violin, viola and cello. (...)
Tacet′s creative use of this multichannel medium takes Mozart′s lovely Baroque background music out of the soporific and into the energetic. And the playing is first rate.

  3. Crescendo

Sonically outstanding, and with the signature Tacet arrangement of instrumentalists positioned around the listener, Mozart’s flute quartets come to life on this DVD. The result is an intimate chamber-music soundscape where all instruments stand as equals—even the flute never dominates. Musically, the recording is equally remarkable: the highly successful rendition of the C-minor Quartet stands out, as does the magically suspended Adagio in the D-major Quartet, its irregular treatment of appoggiaturas lending it an enchanting, floating quality.
