Description
The Bartholdy-Ensemble Rheinfelden conducted by Christian Sikorski have pleasure in presenting their visiting card. A bright mixture of original works, arrangements of string quartet movements et al., and even a first recording for trumpet and orchestra (Soloist Johannes Sondermann) make it clear that this ensemble is something to keep an eye on.

Klassik heute –
An ensemble, previously active in the remote southwestern corner of Germany, now turns to a broader public with a sponsored production, and with verve confirms the accolades it has long earned regionally. Since 1983, the Bartholdy String Ensemble has been based in Rheinfelden, near Lörrach and Grenzach-Wyhlen. The cover photo reveals that a continual process of rejuvenation is taking place. The entire undertaking is crowned by an individual program selection, which shows the courage to tackle small yet substantial forms from the Baroque to the modern era. And it does not stop there: in this genre, it sets a model. One can favorably compare the level of performance to the English Academy of St. Martin in the Fields and enjoy the fact that often-overlooked works by prominent composers are given a splendid monument.
