(...) TACET presents a new vinyl recording using transistor-free technology: tube only. But do the overplayed Four Seasons really justify the effort? Let’s take a look at the performers. Daniel Gaede and the Polish Chamber Orchestra pursue a middle path that, on the one hand, sets itself apart from old Baroque recordings through striking accents, lively phrasing, and an open orchestral sound, but on the other hand dispenses with the consistent use of period instruments and performance practices. If one accepts that, then the superb violinist and the excellent orchestra are entirely convincing. The recording technique and pressing are pure joy – you won’t find better-sounding Four Seasons on vinyl, though perhaps more interesting ones on CD... (...)
